IT Jobs: Discover Where to Work with Programming
Growing exponentially across the planet, the IT field is also expanding its presence in Brazil. With the pandemic, the digital market experienced accelerated growth and is currently a highly attractive market for new professionals, especially in the programming field. Check out more details about the field in our post
The peak in demand for qualified professionals in the IT field, in 2020 during the pandemic period, reached an increase of 670% within the country. The research, conducted by CNN Brasil's special study series, also addresses several issues about the field and the changes that occurred in company formats.
Currently, the demand for qualified professionals remains high, which keeps the IT market as one of the hottest right now. In Brazil, there are different opportunities for those entering or transitioning into the IT field. Check out more details!
Public sector
The technological boom is not happening only in the private sector. In public organizations, investment in digital services grew considerably over the last two years, according to the 5th edition of the ICT Electronic Government survey, conducted by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br).
In the same article by CGI.br, Alexandre Barbosa, manager of Cetic.br|NIC.br, comments that:
"The pandemic forced many public agencies to seek alternatives so that public services would not be interrupted, especially in the most intense phase of social distancing. Offering public services over the Internet was the most widely used path as a continuity strategy."
For various market sectors, it was necessary to create or improve online services at an accelerated pace, such as platforms for virtual classes, in the education field, and mental health apps, in the healthcare field.
The demand for programmers across various areas followed this increase, with high demand across all levels of government — federal, state, and municipal.
Private market
According to a report published by Agência Brasil — and based on the report produced by the Information and Communication Technology Software and Services Industry (ISSTIC) —, the IT market in Brazil is on an upward trajectory, above the global standard. The research also shows that the country continues on a consistent growth trajectory, with the technology sector expanding above the global average year after year.
In a debate held in 2020, among several experts on the subject, Rodrigo Lobo, research manager at IBGE, commented:
"Information Technology has been growing consistently from May 2020 until now, until the end of 2021. Freight transport services, transport logistics, goods warehousing, all of them in the boom of e-commerce expansion that we have observed since the beginning of 2020."
Thus, the constant advancement of ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) also generated numerous opportunities in the private market.
With fierce competition and increasingly aware customers during purchases, companies had to undergo a major digital transformation to remain competitive. This generated investments in various areas of technology, such as 5G, and with that, a great demand for skilled professionals, especially programmers.
Brazil: a global powerhouse
In a survey conducted by the public platform Stack Overflow, with more than 73,000 software developers from 180 countries, Brazil appeared as the 7th largest software work powerhouse, appearing in 2.94% of the responses.
Regarding salaries in the field, according to the latest report by Brasscom (Association of Information and Communication Technology and Digital Technology Companies), the "average compensation of the Software and IT Services subsector is the highest among the [salaries] surveyed and 3.5 times higher than the national average salary."
In addition, the study also conducted a correlation between the demand for IT jobs and graduates from technology-focused courses. The result found that, annually, Brazil graduates around 53,000 professionals in technology courses, while market demand reaches approximately 159,000 professionals per year — a deficit that, according to Brasscom, exceeds 30%.
With this, we can see that the IT field continues to be a good option for those entering the market or those thinking about switching fields. The challenges are great, but with focus and plenty of study, it is possible to achieve success in programming.
